I don't think I'll be eliminating the governor right away, just bumping the rpms up like I've done on Briggs lawnmower engines. Good advice and I'm hoping the brake levers have micro switches. If you built them yourself you can also be your own authorized repair shop parts dealer etc.Put the money in your pocket and keep as much of it as you can here in America. Ride yours first and get a feel for it.Note all its pros and cons and what you have to do to make it worthy and worthwhile and then consider those problems from a consumer standpoint and then imagine all those mindless folks who think its supposed to operate flawlessly and your reputation getting tarnished over a china made product. One piece of advice about venturing out and selling those things. Hopefully the hydraulic brake handles have microswitches for activating the brakelight too.If not theres an extra expense of modifying em or buying others.Then youll need a switch panel for the lights high beam/low beam/horn and turn signals.mounts for the mirrors too The electrical system is enough to run the simple headlight.Adding the rest of the do-dads to make it street legal aswell as bright enough to see youre gonna have to run LEDs or upgrade the stator and add a battery somewhere. Those minibikes are mainly a rigid frame with front springy forks and mineral oil to dampen them.After you convert the offroad rated ATV tires over to D O T legal ones with a much firmer sidewall the harshness of the ride will amplify til it fatigues your body and on a short wheel base bike it happens a lot quicker than say a rigid framed Triumph or Harley. If you go to the affordable go-cart page under predator mods youll see what you have to do to run it without the governor successfully. Youll also need to mod the carb to feed the need of the extra revs.If not alls youll accomplish is running it dangerously lean which will cause it to consume oil. Those engines are pretty reliable when modified right.If you dont do the necessary mods like installing the #18lb valve springs youll get valve float so bad on the top end it will kill the camshaft and possibly bend a valve but not at first.It will most likely happen when you need it the most. At a minimum I need a *** headlight (hopefully one that will fit my housing), tail/brake light, turn signals, horn and perhaps a battery/voltage regulator system. So I need a street legal kit or else I have to piece one together and that is where I hoping the good people on the forum can help me out. We don't even need a title here to tag a vehicle, just a bill of sale. I googled Georgia law and looks like pocket bikes and mini bikes fall into the same category as motorcycles as long as it has no more than 3 wheels, a seat and larger than 50 cc, so I'm good. I asked for and received a dealer kit from Monster Moto and it looks easy enough to get started. I own a business here selling metal buildings and I've been looking for something else to sell. It is powered by a $100 Harbor Freight Predator engine so no big deal if it blows but I don't think bumping it up to 4,500 rpms will hurt anything. The rated top speed is 33 mph but I'm sure I can tweak the governor and get it up to 40 which is the speed limit on the roads where I intend to ride. We have no vehicle inspections in the county where I live so that is probably a plus. I live in a rural area with lots of forest trails to ride but I would love to tag the thing so I can occasionally ride it into town. It is still in the box and wrapped with a bow out on the patio.
